Tombstone Ballists Represent Well at All-Comers Match in Phoenix

The ballists with Lefty. Note the shifty arbitrator the Eastcoast tenderfoots brought with them.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA TERRITORY, March 14

Interlopers from the East came through Phoenix this past weekend for a conference to discuss all matters base ball. They came as far as Kingston, New York.
After a series of panels, one led by our very own Reverend, a game was played on a field in West Phoenix.

Using their rules, which are forever changing ant the whims of boardroom fat cats, the East took the field. They even brought their own arbitrator, who conveniently made any borderline calls in favor of the Atlantic coast tenderfeet.

Members of the Graveyard Gang, including Schultzie, Fingers and the Commish, put up a spirited fight alongside rivals Mesa Miners and Bisbee Black Sox. But in the end, the East prevailed 8-4. They did have some of the players from Arizona on their squad, including Biscuitpants of Mesa, who haphazardly was added to the squad as he dawdled around the field before the game.

Homewrecker of Mesa looks on the team.
Lefty, one of the original All American Girls Baseball League players, liked the look of the Tombstone uniforms.
The Reverend with members of the Kingston team, including artist Brock Mahan. Note that the “sophisticated” Easterners wore a sleeveless t shirt into Scottsdale’s fancy Frasher’s establishment.
